If there’s one venue that has nailed the modern but intimate wedding vibe, it’s the Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County. When Trong & Candy were planning their day, they wanted it to be intimately special, fun for the whole family and delicious! The Drake Devonshire definitely checks those boxes. Although the winds were strong and it rained off and on, making for some angry (but photogenic!) waves, the sophisticated and funky interior of the Devonshire created a perfectly warm environment to celebrate a meaningful day.

We started the day by getting ready with a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony at their Airbnb. I really do love when couples incorporate their traditions or heritage into their day. While the tea ceremony may be an old tradition, the meaning behind the tea ceremony is a beautiful symbol of respective families welcoming the bride and groom into each other’s family. Serving and drinking the tea symbolizes the recognition and acceptance between families. It’s often emotional and incredibly special to observe.

After the tea ceremony, I saw a quick break in the rain and suggested we head to the backyard for family photos… and apparently catch some fish. It didn’t take long for the rain to return, but honestly even those photos are some of my favourites.

From there we decided to get this Drake Devonshire wedding party started, and headed to the venue for an exchange of vows, some more photos by the water and of course the delicious dinner. Our dinning experience was incredible, but then again every single meal I’ve had at Drake Devonshire is (and I’m not just saying that).

Something I really love suggesting to couples is to step away from the crazy and walk around the venue. Doing this will give you both a break and some great images.
