Two years ago I had the pleasure of working with Athena & Mark at their Steamwhistle wedding… last year, it was Athena’s sister who finally tied the knot in similar Greek style.
Greek weddings are some of my favourite events to capture and while I am the first one to say outdoor weddings are where it’s at, I actually really enjoyed shooting at Parkview Manor – the lighting there is super fun to work with and the food was some of the best I’ve had at a wedding! So, I’m warning you… this blog post is of epic Greek proportions… brace yourselves.
I had my second shooter, Aamer Kapadia from Studio 95 Photography, out to help me be in two places at once and captured the boys prep. Then we met up at Panagia Greek Orthodox Cathedral for a beautiful traditional ceremony where the couple has their first meal, walk, kiss and group family photo all within the church. Once we finished there, the talented videographer (Taylin Wilson of Lucas & Tay Weddings) and I headed to the Hart House Theater for some wedding party fun photos. You can check out their wedding video HERE.
Then, the party really got started at Parkview Manor. There was an antipasta bar fit for a king, complete with saganaki (aka: Greek flaming cheese – see epic photo below), a four-course meal with creme brulee for dessert and all the Greek traditional dancing I could handle – which was a lot of it! These guys love their vodka and their dancing and they know how to celebrate!
This wedding never had a dull moment and I had an absolute blast photographing it. With their one year anniversary coming up, I thought it was only fitting that I blog this wedding and share all the awesome memories of their Big Greek Wedding. Happy Anniversary guys!!
